Equal Opportunities

I am committed to providing an inclusive setting and providing equal opportunities for all children. I have high aspirations for all children in my care.

My policies and practice are in line with the EYFS 2014 and the Equalities Act 2010.

I am committed to early intervention and the Early Support principles (www.gov.uk/help-for-disabled-child/early-support-programme)

Children’s voices and that of their families are honored to allow them to provide opportunities to influence change.

What do I do if I think my child may have special educational needs?

If you think that your child has special educational needs speak to their teacher, key worker or the special educational needs coordinator (SENCO). If your child is below school age you may want to speak to your health visitor or doctor.

How will the curriculum be matched to my child’s needs?

There will be an appropriate curriculum that meets specific needs. Planning will be
outcomes-based to support the needs of the child.

There will be effective teaching which focuses on meeting the needs of individual
children and management of support

What support will there be for my child’s overall well–being and social, emotional and behavioral development?

I have a healthy eating policy and behavioral policy in place and details of these are available on request. There will be extra support arrangements to aid the social, emotional and behavioral development of children and young people with SEND, including measures to prevent bullying.

What specialist services and expertise are available or accessed by the setting?

I will work on an individual basis to quickly access any new training, support or services required for me to be able to care for a child with SEND.

What training and development are done by staff supporting those with SEND?

As a childminder, I am responsible for accessing my own training and ensuring that I continually keep up to date my knowledge. I am committed to accessing the relevant when needed to support children with SEND in my care.

How will my child be included in activities outside the setting?

Parents and carers will be involved in the planning of appropriate trips and activities to ensure their child is catered for.
